CHENG He-fa,Ph.D

Dr. CHENG He-fa is a Boya distinguished professor at the College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Peking University. He holds a Ph.D. in environmental engineering and science with a Ph.D. minor in geological and environmental sciences from Stanford University, and M.S. (University of Oklahoma) and B.S. (Summa Cum Laude, East China Normal University) degrees in environmental science. He worked as a postdoctoral research fellow and consulting assistant professor at Stanford University between 2006 and 2009, and as a research professor at Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences between 2009 and 2015. His research focuses on characterization of the environmental behavior of organic pollutants and heavy metals in soils based on laboratory and field investigation, and understanding of the environmental problems arising from energy use through system analysis. He has authored/co-authored over 160 papers in SCI-indexed journals, including Nature Climate Change, Nature Communications, Environmental Science & Technology, and Water Research, and contributed two book chapters. He received the research fund for Excellent Young Scholars (2013) and Distinguished Young Scholars (2017) from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He currently serves as an Associate Editor of Environment International and Environmental Pollution, and an editorial board member of Journal of Contaminant Hydrology.
