Professor,

State Key Laboratory of Atmospheric Boundary Layer Physics and Atmospheric Chemistry(LAPC), Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS),Beijing 100029, People's Republic of China.

Prof. Dr. LIU Chun-yan, gets his Ph. D. degree in the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IAP-CAS) and the Institute of Meteorology and Climate Research, Atmospheric Environmental Research (IMK-IFU), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. He engages in the research of soil carbon and nitrogen transformations and biosphere-atmosphere exchanges of trace gases. He publishes more than 70 research articles in the Q1 journals, e.g. Soil Biology & Biogeochemistry, Global Change Biology, and Journal of Geophysical Research, and has an H-index of 28. He designs a chamber-based automated system for monitoring gas fluxes (CASF) and a calibration system of biosphere-atmosphere gas fluxes (CSGF). His research work achieves several new findings including a) the coupled nitrification–denitrification dominates the freeze–thaw related N2O emissions in the nitrogen-limited ecosystems; b) overgrazing by livestock and associated stimulation of plateau zokor activities, exert negative effects on soil carbon and greenhouse gas sequestrations in grasslands; and c) the increased nitrogen inputs linearly, rather than exponentially, stimulate N2O emissions in calcareous soils due to the carbon substrate limitation on denitrification.
