Abstract:
The resource utilization of organic solid waste constitutes an important consideration for reduction of pollution and carbon emissions. Give the complex composition and significant regional heterogeneity of organic solid waste and the varying proportions of pollution and resource attributes across different geographical sources adopting region-specific management strategies is particularly essential. As fundamental tools supporting solid waste management, assessment methodologies were systematically reviewed in this study, focusing on mainstream approaches including material flow analysis, energy flow analysis, information flow analysis, and life cycle assessment. The review comprehensively examines their target orientations, application scenarios, methodological characteristics, and limitations in the context of organic waste recycling process. The results of this review propose a methodological framework include individual or integrated assessment methods based on clear goals(e.g., evaluating the efficiency of resource recovery, reducing environmental impact, optimizing existing management practices, or enhancing data collection and sharing systems) and inherent limitations and application basis of assessment methods. This systematic approach provides valuable data support for environmental benefit optimization and comprehensive analysis within organic solid waste resource utilization systems.
