Abstract:
Nitrogen oxides are major atmospheric pollutants that contribute to global climate change and tropospheric ozone formation. With the intensification of agricultural activities, nitrogen oxides emissions from cropland soils have markedly increased, posing a significant environmental concern. This review systematically synthesizes recent findings on the spatiotemporal dynamics of nitrogen oxides emissions from cropland soils, identifies their key drivers and underlying mechanisms, and evaluates mitigation strategies with high potential for practical application. Additionally, it outlines the main challenges associated with emission reduction in agroecosystems, aiming to inform future policy development and support the advancement of mitigation technologies.
