Abstract: |
To investigate the response and tolerance of spearmint(Mentha spicata L.)seeds to quinolone(QNs)antibiotic stress, we evaluated the influence to spearmint germination indicators(mean daily germination, mean germination time, germination potential, germination index and vigor index)and morphological indicators(radicle length, germ length and fresh weight)under single and combined stresses of 0, 0.1, 1, 5, 10 mg·L-1 and 20 mg·L-1 ciprofloxacin(CIP), norfloxacin(NOR)and ofloxacin(OFL)by constant temperature and moisturizing culture method. The results showed that the mean daily germination, germination index, vigour index and radicle length of M.spicata initially increased under CIP and NOR stress and then decreased with the increase of concentration compared to the control group. The partial least squares structural equation model indicated a significant positive correlation(P<0.01) between germination and morphological indices, and radicle length might serve as a reliable indicator of sensitivity to toxicity. Grey relational and correlation analysis indicated a significant negative correlation between the vitality index, radicle length and the concentration, the mean daily germination. The tolerance of spearmint was closely related to mean daily germination, vitality index, radicle length, fresh weight and germ length, and analysis of the membership function and plasticity index indicated that the tolerance of spearmint to antibiotics ranked as follows:OFL> complex > CIP > NOR. Responses of germination and morphological parameters of spearmint to single and combined quinolone antibiotics stress, this study can provide an important reference for the evaluation of plant ecotoxicity of antibiotics and plant resistance to antibiotics. |
