Abstract:
Plastic mulching effectively retains heat and moisture, suppresses weed growth, prevents diseases and insect pests, and when used in crop cultivation, it increases crop yields, income, and high-value utilization of cultivated land. However, due to the inadequate degradability of polyethylene(PE)film, it tends to cause "white pollution" and harms the soil ecological environment. Degradable mulching film has become a substitute for PE mulching film in sustainable agriculture. The production and application of degradable mulching film is gradually increasing. This article briefly describes the definition, classification, and development history of degradable plastics, introduces the current status of research and application of degradable plastic film, and summarizes the research and application of biodegradable plastic film in China. Finally, combined with the advantages of biodegradable plastic film application, the article analyzes the theoretical basis for promoting the application of biodegradable plastic film and puts forward relevant suggestions for its research and development.
